Skeleton of Harry Eastlack, a victim of fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP). The connective tissue in Harry's body gradually turned to bone. Though the mechanism of the disease is not well understood, scientists have found that minute local traumas, like a fall or injection, can trigger bone formation thoughout the body.
